Le Corbusier in La Plata

May 14 — Site Le Corbusier — Maison de la Culture — Firminy

As part of the Roulotte Tango festival at the Maison de la Culture, the Site Le Corbusier and the Roulotte Tango association are hosting a special event titled “Le Corbusier in La Plata.” Le Corbusier and tango are both on UNESCO’s heritage list: tango has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage since 2009, and 17 of Le Corbusier’s buildings—including the Maison de la Culture in Firminy and Dr. Curutchet’s house in La Plata, Argentina—have been listed since 2016. The Maison de la Culture is therefore getting into the Argentinian spirit!

At 2:30 p.m.: introductory session on Argentine tango, open to all.
At 4 p.m.: screening of the film “The Man Next Door” by Gastón Duprat & Mariano Cohn (2010 – 1h42). Leonardo is a famous designer who lives with his family in the Casa Curutchet designed by Le Corbusier. He discovers that his new neighbor has decided to knock a hole in the wall to install a window that looks directly into Leonardo’s home…
At 6:00 p.m.: lecture by Leïla Simon, curator and art critic, on Le Corbusier’s Casa Curutchet in La Plata.
At 7:15 p.m.: concert by musicians from La Plata.
